What is Salutology™?

A long and healthy life

We are entering a time when people are getting older and older. The average life expectancy in our generation will approach 100 years and beyond. This means old age is only desirable if it is experienced as healthy and worth living. Therefore, it is important to maintain health and reduce illness.

The name ChronoPsychology and ChronoMedicine includes the term “Chronos” from the Greek word for time – measured time. Exactly here, the approach is not only focused on the point in time, but on the time span and examines the development of health and illness over time – just chronologically.

For this very reason, it is important to show people at an early stage when the physical and mental load is so high that risks and disorders exist. The earlier health risks are recognised, the easier and more cost-effective it is to reduce them through interventions and prevent disorders and diseases from arising in the first place.

For this purpose, we have developed the term Salutology® – the science of health – and the health development method of salutogenesis, with the aim of bringing people’s health span back into line with their life span.

What is Salutology™?

Over the last 20 years, Dr. Peter Hauschild and his team have developed the concept of ideal health and the Vienna School of Salutology™.

Salutology™ is the science of health. It offers analysis, maintenance of health and methods of treatment of deviations of the ideal state of health. Thus, Salutology™ stands in contrast to pathology, the science of prevention, detection and treatment of diseases or injuries.

Salutology™ provides measurement methods to prediagnose physical and psychological illness, such as burnout, depression or cardiovascular diseases at an early stage, even before symptoms occur. Based on the personal health status Salutology™ provides a set of interventions and treatments to prevent illness in advance and optimize health.

With over 45.000 analyses performed, Dr. Peter Hauschild and his team have helped numerous people to become healthier and happier.
