Occupational stress, an unhealthy lifestyle and previous illnesses contribute greatly to the development of COVID-19. If lack of exercise, lack of sunlight, lack of restful sleep, but also overweight, obesity and alcohol contribute to increasing the risk of infection, health risks can be significantly reduced by simple measures and changes in lifestyle.
How you can make use of COVID-19 risks as a chance for your health
The CORONA PREVENT Program
It is precisely for this purpose that the team of experts at the Institute for ChronoPsychology and ChronoMedicine at Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna has developed the CORONA PREVENT programme, which shows how you can now strengthen your body, mind and family against viruses that appear in a changing environment.
This program guides you through the questions:
- How can I recognize my own risk situation?
- Which measures are useful for me?
- What must I do to stay healthy in the future?
With this program we want to support you and your families to get through the crisis healthy and to use this crisis as a chance for your own health!
Living a healthy lifestyle is important
The human body contains chemical elements (vitamins, trace elements, hormones, etc.), which – if present in sufficient quantities – contribute to a healthy organism and a resistant immune system. But does nutrition, exercise or healthy sleep help us to absorb these vital elements in the body?
The National Consumption Study II** examined the eating habits of several thousand German citizens. They filled out nutritional protocols for a period of time, in which every drink and every food intake was precisely documented. The frightening result: large parts of the population do not meet the already modest requirements of the German Society for Nutrition (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung e.V.) with regard to important nutrients. (DGE).
In this and further articles we will follow this topic and show step by step the necessity of chemical substances for the body and health.
Here we refer to the possibility to prove the current availability of orthomolecular protective factors in your body. Through the preventive diagnostics of the Biovis laboratory analysis of vitamin A, B6, C, D3, coenzyme Q10 and others, you receive an exact overview of the bioavailability of important elements for your immune system.
Vitamins - Protective factors for our immune system
Vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin D are scientifically proven to contribute to normal functioning of the immune system. Even though there have been only a few studies in connection with the new corona virus SARS-CoV-2, we know from many years of personal experience how important a sufficient supply of these vitamins is for an intact immune system. Above all, as a preventive measure, care should be taken to ensure that the measured values are rather in the upper normal range. Therapists with orthomolecular experience also speak of an “optimal range for preventive medicine”, as dependent enzymes show maximum activity at these concentrations.
Meta-analyses are available for vitamin D in particular, which investigate the role of vitamin D supplementation in the prevention of respiratory tract infections. According to this meta-analysis, vitamin D significantly reduces the events associated with respiratory tract infections. Various reasons are given for the protective effect of vitamin D in the prevention of respiratory tract infections.
It is assumed that vitamin D increases the production of natural antibodies. Vitamin D is also known to enhance immunity by inducing monocyte differentiation and inhibiting lymphocyte proliferation . Finally, vitamin D is also believed to increase the phagocytic activity of macrophages. To achieve these effects, 25 OH-vitamin D3 levels are required, ideally in the range of 75 – 200 nmol/l.
Vitamin C is a good basis for a functioning immune system and can be taken regularly for support. Furthermore, the antioxidant effect prevents chronic stress and increases the resistance of the body.
Zinc and magnesium deficiencies are very common. This should be detected in time, as both trace elements are very important for our immune system, among other things.
The test procedures for the preventive diagnostics of the immune system make it possible to assess the current availability of the important orthomolecular protective factors in a simple manner and to then set appropriate interventions.
